Adobe is being quiet, for now, but Business Catalyst appears to be very jovial regarding the recent purchase by Adobe of Business Catalyst and test DIY platform, GoodBarry. An email to all Business Catalyst resellers and partners went out around 7pm EST on Sunday, August 30th 2009 from Bardia Housman, CEO.
Business Catalyst provides a robust CMS (Content Management System) for building Online Businesses, Ecommerce, Blogs, Forums, Email Marketing, and Analytics in one cohesive package. What’s different about Business Catalyst is they target web professionals to carry their brand to the end-users by selling reseller and partner licenses for a one-time fee. Access to the partner portal includes mountains of content, videos, and templates to get started and help support your customers.
GoodBarry by Business Catalyst targets the DIY end-user interested in starting their own online business without much help needed in site setup, design, and development. GoodBarry will be the first casualty of the Adobe acquisition with an announced shutdown of GoodBarry on October 1, 2009. This will be the first step in the new direction Adobe will be taking Business Catalyst where plans are announced to target Web Professionals and their networks without going direct to the end-user through GoodBarry.
As a loyal Business Catalyst Partner, this announcement has definitely been a surprise and we are eager to see how this unfolds. If you have a question or comment, please post it below.
